Starling C. Mobley

Starling C. Mobley, 90, of South Bloomfield, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. 

He was born Aug. 28, 1932 near Beallsville, the first son of the late Wayne D. and Sylvia L. (Pittman) Mobley. 

He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Starling was both an elder and a deacon of the Circleville Church of Christ. He retired with 30 years of service as a radio technician from the City of Columbus, Dept. of Communications. He was also a serving member of the Village of South Bloomfield council for several terms. In his retirement he was often found supporting both the athletic and music programs of the Teays Valley School District or be seen photographing nature in the world around him. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nicky R. (Martin) Mobley, (mother of Robin); brothers, Holley and Robert; sister, Christina Hastings; niece, Angela Britton. 

Starling is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, DeJon R. (Hart) Mobley; daughter, Robin R. (Joel Brown) Mobley, of Newark; brother, Harold Mobley, of Beallsville; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. 

The family received friends Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville. Services followed with Dean Manning officiating. A Graveside Service was held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Beallsville Cemetery in Monroe County.
