Victor E. “Snooks” Mozena, 80, of Woodsfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Victor was born near Clarington on Dec. 24, 1942, to the late Charles D. and Dorothy Bauer Mozena.
Victor was a proud graduate of the River High School Class of 1960. After graduating, he served four years in the United States Navy. Stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, Victor served as a Machinist Mate – Second Class on the U.S.S. Anthion and the U.S.S. Chukawan. As a proud veteran, one of his fondest memories of his service was standing at attention for three hours during the funeral for President John F. Kennedy. Following his time in the Navy, Victor was briefly employed by Shelly and Sands Paving Company and then embarked on a long career as a rod room worker at the Ormet Rolling Mill.
Victor was a lifelong, dedicated member of St. John’s UCC in Powhatan Point. He served his church in many capacities throughout his lifetime. Vic enjoyed helping and caring for others in any way he could. He has left this world a better place.
In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his son, Michael Mozena, on May 16, 2020 and his brother, Charles E. “Sonny” Mozena on May 24, 1997.
Left to carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 55 years, Mildred Smothers Mozena; his daughter, Michelle Christman; his grandchildren, Chloe, Samuel and Katelyn; his great-grandchildren, Kasen, Raelyn, Sydnee and Jackson; former son-in-law, Randall Christman; former daughter-in-law, Jennipher Mozena; and his nieces, nephews, and many cousins who he loved dearly.

Friends were received Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. John United Church of Christ, 51736 German Ridge Rd., Powhatan Point, with Pastors Bill Stokes and Terri Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
