WILLIAM G. “BILL” CALVERT

William G. “Bill” Calvert, 94, of Lewisville, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at his home.

He was born at Martins Ferry on Jan. 25, 1929, a son of the late George and Lillian Brubach Calvert.

Bill was a retired postal worker at the Woodsfield Post Office, Woodsfield; a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where he was also a member of the St. Francis Society and the Purgatorial Society.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and a sister, Shirley Seamon.

Surviving are eight nieces and nephews, Samuel L. Seamon, of Benwood, West Virginia, Sharon L. (Ambrose) Bober, of Wheeling, West Virginia, Tarey (Bernice) Bernhard, of Racine, Wisconsin, Jody (Robert) Contraguerro, of Wheeling, West Virginia, Don (Kathleen) Seamon, of St. Clairsville, Dennis (Doreen) Seamon, of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, Thomas (Beth) Seamon, of Oakdale, Pennsylvania, and Timothy (Lori) Seamon, of McDonald, Pennsylvania; 19 great-nieces and nephews; and 29 greatgreat- nieces and nephews.

Friends were received Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, with vigil services following.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with Fr. Timothy Davison as the Celebrant.

Burial followed in the St. Sylvester Cemetery, Woodsfield, with full military graveside services.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bill’s neighbors and friends who have, with great compassion and diligence, looked after him for many years. You all were his guardian angels.
